I Lied

track review · March 25, 2026

I Lied

Lord Huron

the take

Amongst all of the songs about hookups, situationships, one night stands and drunk teen heartbreak; “I Lied”, A cathartic ballad about the end of a relationship, stands out as a song that speaks to the feeling of truly loving someone like you never thought you could and the earth shattering heartbreak of those promises to this person who really seemed like the one being broken. I lied serves as one of the purest and most emotional love songs, not as mourning the loss of a partner but of acknowledging the end of something that really could have been so much more. At the same time there is a more hopeful not for those who still have someone: As much as ‘I Lied’ is a haunting ballad about lost love it also serves as a stark warning to those who still have this type of love to value it deeply because all love is fragile.
