the take
To me, Lady Gaga is one of those artists whose music I never really cared for much, but still respected her popularity at the same time. Trust me when I say her music in the late 2000's and early 2010's was inescapable, and I actually enjoyed it enough to let each single play in its entirety. However, I never listened to a full-length album by Lady Gaga, more specifically this one, until fairly recently. Soon as I hit play, the wave of nostalgia given off from her monster singles ("Bad Romance", "Just Dance", "Paparazzi") was swift, as I can finally say I fully appreciate the talent Lady Gaga displays. Not only via the songs I just mentioned, but this album as whole, as she's versatile by going from one genre to another with ease and is successful in doing so. I will add that one slight issue for me is that some of the most pop-sounding tracks sound a bit too overproduced for my liking. I hated this aspect back when this was new and popular, and while I kind of have a slight disdain for it still, I can't help but appreciate how great this album ended up being and is appreciative of its sound years later.
