the take
As someone who has been a listener of Claire Rosinkranz's music since 2020, I will admit I have not been keeping up with her career in recent years. That said, I was surprised to see she released a new album, titled "My Lover", in 2026. Now, this album isn't bad at all. It's consistent in terms of both its sound and its execution, which are already W's in my book. That said, it was kind of hard for me to distinguish one track from another, mainly because of how bedroom pop and indie pop sounds to me. Claire still came through with great vocals and catchy lyrical moments spread throughout (my favorites being "Kiss", "Dime", and "Crazy Bitch Song"), but the production kind of makes this album drag a bit longer than it has to. And while some of it comes off as a bit cringe, partly because I'm officially outside the target audience for this, I can definitely see why anyone who loves the bedroom pop sound today could enjoy it. Not a bad reintroduction to Claire Rosinkranz's music, if I must say so myself. Now, though... I'm curious to see what other projects by her I've missed plus go through her other bodies of work again that I had on repeat back in 2020.
