the take
As someone who's a big Young Nudy fan, I was scared to give this a listen. According to my family, "Sli'merre 2" wasn't that good to them (I only skimmed through it), so my expectations for "PARADISE" were actually low. Which is why I'm surprised that this is actually better than I thought it would be. Coupe handles the production on here, and this just goes to prove how he and Nudy create bangers together every single time. One thing I really enjoyed about Coupe's production is how he incorporated some of that old Atlanta influence into some of his production on here. (Shout out the title track that pays homage to Shawty Lo.) As for Nudy himself, some of his overtly sexual lyrics are kind of a turn off for me, but there's no denying that he's still the same SlimeBall we all know. His display of confidence has always been on ten, but is multiplied tenfold thanks to Coupe's alley-oop with the beats. While the vibes on here aren't up to par with, say, the "SlimeBall" series or the "Sli'merre", Nudy comes off as one having fun just being himself making these songs. Based on the common consensus, this is a return to form for Young Nudy. I've seen others not rate this as high, but I actually quite enjoyed this one. Not a classic, but still a vibe.
