the take
For some reason, a part of me gets a bit of those 90's rock vibes in a dream sequence or some shit. Sophie Woodhouse's three-track EP "Bedtime" has me listening to dreamy, breathy vocals over rock instrumentation that gives off 90's teen movie vibes for me. I've never really heard of anything like this before (at least, not recently), so this kind of works for me. For Sophie, I enjoy the ethereal and atmospheric energy these songs produce via her breathy vocals. While I do think the vocals try to do too much after a while, especially if the song goes on for a bit longer than it should, it's still a unique take on being vulnerable with the music. Kinda hard to be fair and name a favorite song on an EP that's only over five minutes, but just know that for a short collection of songs, I enjoyed transporting to another dimension for that short duration.
