the take
It took me quite a bit to actually understand and grasp Tyla's music. It wasn't until I listened to the deluxe of her self-titled album when I finally began to appreciate what she brings to the table musically. With "WWP", Tyla sticks to her roots and keeps the sounds that make her popular to begin with. (I mean, shit, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Right?) While the music isn't as strong on here as the music on "TYLA", I do commend her for experimenting a bit with new things, given how limited the Afrobeats sound can be. I'd be lying if I said this EP is memorable, but it's not terrible by any means. The main highlight that keeps me even a bit interested in going back is Tyla's vocals that don't do too much and yet are infectious regardless. "BLISS" is the the best track on here, but this is a solid EP that I hope prepares her fans (myself, included) for her next album.
