the take
Larry June? Instantly got my attention. The Alchemist? Fuck yeah, I know I'm in for a treat with this one. 2 Chainz?! I mean... COULD IT WORK, though? A part of me has lowkey seen 2 Chainz going down this route of rap music rapping over more soulful production as such crafted by the likes of The Alchemist, although I didn't think it'd get here so soon. "Life Is Beautiful" is such a smooth record front to back. The Alchemist created a soundscape that's the perfect summer album for cruising down the street with your crew. Larry June stays doing Larry June things, spitting with a confident relaxed luxury rap flow as usual, which I've always been a huge fan of. I just find it shocking how Tity Boi... I mean, 2 Chainz matched the intended energy with his perspective on the kind of rap displayed on here. Then again, 2 Chainz did succeed in making music like this on a few tracks from his collab album with Lil Wayne some time ago. That said, 2 Chainz's verses sometimes felt overshadowed by The Alchemist's production, but during those times that it doesn't, he shines brightly above everything else. I probably said a whole lot of nothing, but this album for sure is a vibe. So far one of my top albums of 2025 (as of June 25th, 2025).
