the take
Now THIS is how you finish a trilogy. While Westside Gunn's first two installments of "HEELS HAVE EYES" had glimpses of greatness sprinkled throughout, it wasn't consistent enough to reach the expected quality Westside Gunn is known for maintaining. But with part three?! Consistency is key. The vibes the production gives throughout this album are reminiscent of a victory lap after achieving status. Truthfully, it works because it sounds like it's acknowledging how far one has come and also planning for the future, whatever it may hold. Westside Gunn's demeanor throught "HEELS 3" follows suit, as he's never sounded more cocky and confident than we've seen in a while that's actually convincing to the listener. The end result is a top-tier Westside Gunn project that might be up there with "Supreme Blientele" for me: rugged and grimy. Hell, even all the features are amazing, though I will say both Rome Streetz and Stove God Cooks absolutely killed their respective guest verses. How Westside Gunn packed a consistent project in under so little time, I may never know. Either way... holy fuck, this is fucking amazing.
