the take
This is Tool at its most disciplined and transcendent. The lyrics lean heavily into sacred geometry, introspection, and the pursuit of higher consciousness, sometimes veering into abstraction, but always anchored by a genuine search for meaning. Musically, it’s astonishing. Tool operate with near-telepathic precision, building songs that feel less written than constructed, each movement unfolding with intent and weight. The centrepiece of that construction is Danny. This is his showcase in every sense—polyrhythms stacked on polyrhythms, shifting time signatures that feel fluid rather than mechanical, and a percussive presence that doesn’t just keep time but defines it. The album spirals inward and outward at once. It can feel dense, even impenetrable at times, but that’s part of its design. It demands engagement. Fav Track Reflection
