the take
while i do enjoy a good mormon church callout and satire, the entire Uganda plot line did not age well with its representation of Africans. there’s a connotation that the only way the people of Uganda can escape poverty, disease and death is to follow the white guys who just randomly appeared out of nowhere and tell them tales of one of the most conservative states in the US. also casually assigning such horrible disease as AIDS and such atrocious practices as p€doph*l¡a to African people ‘just because’ is not fun. at the same time, this was written by the people who created South Park so kinda what did you expect. other than that, i resonate with Elder McKinley a lot, Turn It Off is a banger and the musical numbers on stage are class in every production. love the voice of Andrew Rannells and the little references and easter eggs in the music
