the take
Fallen thrives on atmosphere and contrast. The lyrics lean heavily into gothic longing but what elevates them is Amy’s ability to make even the more melodramatic lines feel personal rather than theatrical. There’s a sincerity in tracks like My Immortal and Going Under that grounds the album’s darker imagery. The band strikes a compelling balance between nu-metal heft and symphonic elegance. The guitars are thick and brooding, but it’s the piano work and Lee’s voice that define the record’s identity. Her vocal control is the album’s strongest instrument. Fallen isn’t a strict narrative album, but it maintains a cohesive emotional world: a kind of internal descent, grappling with pain, memory, and selfhood. It occasionally leans into repetition, both sonically and thematically, but the consistency also gives it a strong, immersive mood. Fav Track My Immortal
