the take
Pretty much everything I've said in my review of the standard edition of Amaarae's "Fountain Baby" can/does apply to "roses are red, tears are blue". That's definitely not a bad thing, though. While these extras still follow the "Fountain Baby" blueprint to a T, the material on here is also as infectious and addictive. If anything, this EP sounds a bit more moody and experimental than I expected it to be, but it's still a vibe. It's kind of like this is a darker POV of "Fountain Baby", and Amaarae's vocals and emotion perfectly envision the musical environment she envisioned. "jehovah witness" and the remix to "Disguise" are my top two favorites, but this entire collection of songs are so amazing to me where I'm surprised she didn't include at least half of these on the standard edition. Easily a worthwhile addition.
