the take
If you often forget who has something to say, who is in the house, who is on the track and who is all over your *boing*, then boy do I have an album for you! (Ha!) Craig David needs to let you know you're listening to his album. Don't play a drinking game whilst listening to this! It is however, a really strong r'n'b/garage hybrid album that hit at the right time. There's plenty of interesting mix of styles here that soundtracks David's key strength: storytelling. David's album to tell stories in his lyrics, bringing forth situations and conceots quite easily. They're very much from the perspective from a 19-year-old who may have an eye for the ladies, but often switches to the romantic side quite quickly. The world building in "Fill Me In" is really well done. As well as the Pop-Culture impacting "7 Days". May have dated now for new listeners, but a great relisten.
