My #1 most favorite song ever! 💘✨ The first time I really heard this song (because you know there are times when songs are played in the vicinity of your ear and then there’s the first time you reallyyy HEAR a song) was in She’s All That when I was in middle school or early high school. I remember watching that scene where she comes down the stairs and immediately rewinding to hear the song again. I thought, I don’t know what song this is but I am absolutely positively in love with it. I discovered that it was Kiss Me by Sixpence None The Richer and it has been my most favorite song since. As a woman who lives her life very romantically, I have had a first kiss to this song of course. It was a magical moment that was proceeded by feeding one another strawberries and followed by jumping into the ocean. I never hung out with that guy again, but that’s not what it’s about! It’s about THE FUCKING ROMANCE of it all! And this song is infused with romanticism. I can hear it in every note. It gives me ecstasy charged chills. When I hear this song I’m in a backyard. There are fireflies. The sky is a hazy pink, purple. I’m dancing with someone I barely know that I might just maybe fall in love with. This song is bringing out the string quartet and the firefly spectacle all to celebrate the warm electricity of that maybe just maybe rose colored feeling. I’m here for it every time.
