Criminally Attached

Boldy James

the take

Boldy James and Nicholas Craven just don't miss. Before this project, I've really enjoyed their recent three collab albums, with "Fair Exchange No Robbery" still being my favorite of the three. Boldy has already released too much music in 2025 alone, but a second project with Nicholas Craven this year alone wasn't on my list. Boldy James sticks to the usual formula in terms of rapping in his own way about hustling and making a way out of your current situation one way or another. Nicholas' production is always top-tier, especially with Boldy James feeling comfortable over them. Personally, I feel this is a slight step down from the duo's "Late to My Own Funeral" from earlier this year. The issue (I hate calling it that because it really isn't one) is that the production doesn't sound as memorable to me. It's like... some of the beats didn't leave a lasting impression on me. "1st Time Around" and "No Blemishes" are far from terrible, but they're ones I kind of struggle going back to willingly. "Thumb of Craven" and "Infrared Dot Com", on the other hand, were the ones I instantly vibed with and are easily two of my favorites. A small notch below "Late to My Own Funeral", but still an amazing record.
