the take
This album presents a slightly more modern take on a few of Engelbert’s biggest hits, like “The Last Waltz” and “Spanish Eyes”. Along with the grandiose of the orchestra and band behind him, Engelbert gets to sing these songs with his new-found gentleness of the late 70s while still pushing through with his incredible vocals at the height of the music. These songs are arranged a little bit differently than the originals, giving them the perfect mix of groove and a certain jumpiness that’s super easy to sway in rhythm with.
