the take
Potentially the best debut album of all time (keyword POTENTIALLY); Extremely High Highs with not a single skip and consistent bangers across the entire short tracklist; If I heard this album going through my first heartbreak and I was a teenage girl it genuinely might be the best thing I’ve ever listened to, but even without that perspective it’s still incredible;I’d say the only issue somebody could find with this album is that every single song is a breakup song but for it’s short 34 minute tracklist and the context of when and why this album was created 11 breakup songs is justifiable, especially because each one is uniquely beautiful and sonically different;Adding onto that point every song on this album introduces a new unique perspective on one’s own breakup, beginning with rage and self hatred as well as hatred for the man who ended relations with Olivia but ending not on a happy ending but with sadness juxtaposed with the need to move on and failed attempts to move on; Amazing Pop-Rock beats (leans more pop) with stellar storytelling and song writing; 4 songs surpassed 2 Billion streams and 3 more surpassed 1 Billion which doesnt matter interms of quality but just shows how big this album is, the impact it had on release, and how it may potentially influence pop albums in the future. Top 3: jealousy, jealousy brutal deja vu
