the take
Like many others, this is my introduction to Girlfriend and her music. I was a bit curious on how this album would sound to me, so I gave this a listen. Putting it straightforward, "Honey Water" is a solid effort by her. I will admit that sonically, this album isn't anything new or innovative, yet still sounding gorgeous and chill the entire duration. Add the accompanying production and Girlfriend's soothing vocals and you'd get a listener (said listener being me in this case) grooving and vibing like I'm on cloud nine with how smooth this is. While there are only a few true standouts I still have on repeat ("OG", "Touch & Go", "Your Love"), there's no doubt that I see potential in the future of Girlfriend's career. I'm interested to see what else she has in store, either in the future or in her discography.
