the take
While looking for new music to listen to that's somewhat of a breath of fresh air from the hip-hop world I'm in daily, I scavenged through Genius' Release Calendar. The project's name alone caught my interest, so I saved the EP by Leyla Blue to hopefully listen to soon. "Drive Me Mad" is actually solid. I'm loving the refreshing R&B vibes that also incorporates a bit of that alt-pop sound. From the acoustic intro to the closer "I Saw You in Love", Leyla Blue shows how versatile she can be over essentially three different genres she incorporated here. It should be noted that her vocals compliment each style as well. Leyla's songwriting is something you'd easily tell it came from her soul, with the vocals coming off as candid yet beautiful at the same time to the point where you're there in her mental with her while listening. "baby boy" is my favorite on here, but overall "Drive Me Mad" was a pleasant listen. I can't wait to hear what Leyla Blue has in store in the future, as well as what she's released before this EP.
