Brotha Lynch Hung

the take

I only know of Brotha Lynch Hung because of me being slightly curious about the subgenre of Horrorcore back in the day. (Aside from Three 6 Mafia, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, and $uicideboy$, I'm not really headfirst into said subgenre, but I've liked what I've heard so far.) Because of my curiosity, I decided to see what Brotha Lynch's debut EP was about. Production-wise, it's really your typical West Coast rap project. It uses the same samples that were used on other major (and overall better) rap songs around this time, which is disappointing because some offered little, if any, variations to their respective uses. As for Brotha Lynch Hung himself, he actually has a nice flow throughout the album and does have the ability to rap his ass off. It's unfortunate that his lyricism about topics revolving around Horrorcore is just average at best and comes off as kind of cheesy half of the time. I still consider this a good project, but the highlights doesn't differ much from the rest. Due to this, the probability of me coming back to this in its entirety on my own is pretty damn low.
