Figure 8 is Elliot’s most outwardly polished and expansive record. He remains sharp and sad, though the writing here feels a touch more abstract and impressionistic. Musically, this is where the album shines. The arrangements are dense and meticulous. It’s a gorgeous, almost baroque pop sound, clearly indebted to late-period Beatles, and his ear for melody remains undeniable. Overall, it feels less like a unified statement and more like a collection of meticulously crafted emotional snapshots.
