the take
Stupidly infectious synth indie pop with catchy choruses. There's elements of fun throughout, mixed in with some lovely poignant reflections on maturity, growing old and responsibilities. And how great Sonic the Hedgehog is. I've always thought that Stef Purenins has a brilliant ability to craft little tiny set-pieces of catchiness. Indie-pop earworms that nestle in and should really be sung back at him by an audience. He also knows how to do a really good gang vocal. This album never ceases to make me smile, and I love it so.
