OsshRock (Deluxe)

Black Fortune

the take

If it wasn't for a season one episode of Netflix's series "On My Block", I would've never came across rapper Black Fortune. When it comes to the saturated DMV hip-hop scene, Black Fortune still somehow sets himself apart from other rappers in the area. I personally think it's the swagger and confidence he possesses while being witty at the same time, which helps make each track a fun listen. Adding to that is the production, which isn't all one sound, which is welcoming to see. Some tracks have that DMV feel to it, some have a rock touch to it, but they're all individual of one another but still makes this project complete together. "OsshWop" is the clear popular favorite here (as it should be), but tracks like "Gwuap", "McDeez", and "Keith Sweat" gives it a run for its money. Oh yeah, quick heads up: if you want to listen to the project in its entirety, I suggest listening to it on Black Fortune's Soundcloud page. The version on streaming services has six less songs (possibly due to sampling issues). If you do that, you might be impressed with this mixtape.
