the take
Quite simply, the best album of all time. It's full of dark, jaded imagery and viewpoint of young-adult romance tinged with a constant stream of frustration. This album isn't scared to explore the intrusive thoughts of that period where you're supposed to be an adult but don't think you are. Slices of life with some superb examples of story-telling that balance the soundscape of the twee origins of the band with the more emo-influence that they have now. It's their most accomplished album, and the final third is easily my favourite stretch of songs off any album. It's practically perfect. No notes.
