the take
I’ve loved José González since “Crosses” was featured in Life Is Strange. This is another beautiful acoustic work from him. My only note: I really love his side project/band, Junip, because it brings out a different side to his voice and stands apart from the rest of his solo discography—I want to say there’s more “drama” but I’m not sure if that’s the right word. Anyways, I wish this album had a tad more variety or more of a progression toward its end. I found myself losing focus during the final songs in the album because it started to blend with some of the earlier songs. I imagine mixing these songs with different artists’ songs in a playlist would help it feel more fresh than listening to it all in succession. I would definitely enjoy this album with a cup of coffee in the morning. :)
