the take
If you say you want to experience this album in its entirety, I’ll be there in “5 seconds flat”, popcorn in hand. This is a masterclass in storytelling. Despite never having met Lizzy, I feel like I know her, if only slightly. That’s what happens when an artist leaves everything on the page. Not only are the lyrics on par with some of the greatest writers of all time, but they also carry immense weight when paired with Lizzy’s emotions and the production of each track. Rarely does an album achieve such cinematic heights, but this breaks the boundaries of what I thought a story album could be, akin to storytelling gems like The Lumineers’ “III”.
