the take
Amazing listen. I knew some of the songs from before but I’m so happy that I listened to the whole thing finally. Darkwave pop and super synth. While one song can be super downbeat and ominous, it’s also likey very danceable at the same time. All of these songs give off a bar with heavy red LED lights throughout. Standouts: TSLAMP, Little Dark Age, She works out too much, when you die, one thing left to try, hand it over. The music video for when you die mirrors the near death experience and the chemicals that get released upon using that experience. The brain produces dmt when deprived of oxygen or on the verge of death, and upon the main characters death, the rest of the music video is a trip. My favorite moment of the album is in when you die near the very end. The singers mantras throughout the song are a little more random and chaotic. It feels like he doesn’t want to be saying what he’s saying. There’s a moment of tenderness where he abandons his villainous persona and sadly admits, “I heard you the first time…” amazing listen no bad songs
