Rated R

Queens of the Stone Age

the take

Rated R leans into sleaze, paranoia, and dark humour. The writing isn’t overly complex, but it’s loaded with attitude. The musicianship is where the album really locks in. The riffs are thick and infectious, the rhythms tight but loose enough to feel human, and the rotating cast of vocalists adds texture without diluting identity. Tracks shift styles abruptly but the band never loses control. The album feels like a document of excess. It’s messy by design, almost like flipping through radio stations in the middle of a bender. That looseness can occasionally feel uneven, but more often it’s what gives the album its character. Fav Track In the Fade
