the take
This is much less a collection of songs than a meditation on grief, memory, and fragile hope. The lyrics (when they emerge) feel diaristic and deeply personal, circling loss without ever fully explaining it. They’re not meant to be decoded, but felt. Musicianship is where the record truly breathes. The strings ache and swell with a kind of worn, human imperfection, while the slow builds and patient pacing give each piece a sense of inevitability. It’s post-rock, but stripped of grandeur, a touch more intimate, and feeling much more wounded. It’s a sonic elegy. There’s a spiritual weight to it, a sense of searching for light in the aftermath of something irreparable. Knowing Efram wrote the songs about the loss of his dog is sweet. It never resolves, and I think that’s the point. Fav Track 13 Angels Standing Guard ‘Round The Side Of Your Bed
