the take
A new KAYTRANADA project in 2025? Say less! I'll admit that I was a bit skeptical going into an instrumental album after enjoying KAYTRANADA's "Timeless" as much as I did, but then I realized I have to look at this kind of in the same way as I did with Daft Punk's "Discovery" album that I finally listened to earlier this year and loved. Having said that, this isn't bad at all. KAYTRANADA's beats on here sound like this is the soundtrack for a relaxing summer evening with your friends, which makes sense because I'm like almost five months too late for this. As such, I'll admit that some tracks on here didn't fully grab me in comparison to others on here, but all still present the listener with a good time. "DON'T WORRY BABE / I GOT YOU BABE" is that signature sound that I know and fell in love with instantly; other favorites include "GOOD LUCK" and "TARGET JOINT". "AIN'T NO DAMN WAY!" isn't groundbreaking or all too unique, but it's still a fun album to spin to get things done, have fun, or relax around the house. "AIN'T NO DAMN WAY!" is one album that succeeded in possessing your soul and make you want to enjoy life soon as you press play.
