Snotty World (Deluxe)

After rediscovering my appreciation for Homixide Gang's "SNOTTY WORLD" EP, I decided to see if the deluxe was still as good as I thought it was. It's... still decent. Kind of a bit underwhelming in hindsight. A part of me is glad that the production overall is much more fleshed out to where it's sounding more professional, partly courtesy of Homixide Gang being signed to Playboi Carti's Opium label shortly before this release. At the same time, I loved the rough-around-the-edge-rage sound heard on their prior EP ("SNOTTY WAX!" being an example). And while Beno! & Meechie doesn't always have the same energy on here that was displayed before, they still show that they're hungry on each track. More of the same lyrically, but that's what comes with the rage sound territory. The reason why I don't have this higher is because after "BIG O SHIT!", the project takes a nosedive, with "GUN" and "SNOTTY RUN!" dragging it down a lot. At that point, those songs were like early rough drafts of Destroy Lonely/Ken Carson tracks but with Beno! & Meechie's lyrics. Songs like these (and "ROCKSTAR" to an extent) are why I'm more into the more aggressive sound Homixide Gang put out. Glad I still get some of that energy with "5UNNA" and others. I should go through their discography to see where it went wrong.
