DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS

Bad Bunny

the take

Up until recently, I've never listened to a Bad Bunny project in my life. It's not that I don't like him or his music at all; it's just that for the longest time, his music wasn't really my cup of tea. Y'know, decent enough to fully respect and appreciate its popularity. Then a combination of factors led me to check out Bad Bunny's latest effort, "DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS": (1) Bad Bunny being named the halftime show performer for the Super Bowl in 2026, and (2) my coworker/friend/crush told me to listen to three songs in particular first ("EoO", "NUEVAYoL", "BAILE INoLVIDABLE"). Long story short, I've become hooked. It wasn't immediate, though. While I enjoyed those three songs my friend recommended me, my first listen of the album from top to bottom was a... slightly uninteresting experience. I almost wanted to call it there, but a part of me ran back those three songs that introduced me to this in the first place. By then, I finally began to understand what I did wrong. On my second listen, I let the music take over my soul and I let the sound guide me to a fun time. (Of course, there's this bullshit theory I have that I may have been Puerto Rican in a past life, but that's another story.) A part of me expected a full-on Reggaetón album and I would've been content with that. Instead, the instrumentation and the experimentation on this is incredible, as it incorporates sounds and styles from other elements, with salsa being one of those standout sounds. Really, I just caught the vibe of the album based off the production alone, as Bad Bunny complimented each song well with his vocals. Aside from "NUEVAYoL" and "EoO", "CAFé CON RON" might be one of the best songs I've heard from this year so far. I've been asleep for so long about Bad Bunny, and while it's too early for me to say I see the light right now, I'm enjoying this journey to said light with "DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS" playing in my ears.
