the take
Kayvo and Keezah are two rappers from the DMV I discovered via their collaboration with Goonew. (I forgot what the exact name of the song is called, though.) These two were clearly influenced by Goonew with their whisper flows, but still ended up making their contributions to said song with Goonew enjoyable. What I didn't know is Kayvo and Keezah collaborated with each other and made a couple of mixtapes together, one of them being "GREIGLEAF". This project is your run-of-the-mill mixtape from the DMV, from the handled production to the aforementioned inspirational whisper flows. And yet, I still found myself enjoying this a good amount. Kayvo and Keezah's raps and flow both coincide with the grim lifestyle of the hood, and those two traits make the songs on here a bit more haunting and eerie. Other than that, there really aren't many standout tracks on here. Naturally Goonew steals the show on "Beeper", but Kayvo and Keezah held it down on their own on "Hit the Block" and "Caution". Yes, I know I'm somewhat biased about this mixtape. Not the strongest body of work, but still an entertaining one, nonetheless.
