the take
I've been seeing Maisy Kay's name pop up on Instagram for the longest time, like BEFORE I started this page. I just never got around to giving her music a chance... until now. And... I mean, it's good, but it's not mind-blowingly good, if that makes any sense. Okay, no shade to Maisy Kay, as she is a great singer, and the songwriting is good enough in pop music standards. My issues lie within how the project doesn't really sound anything different from other pop songs, both lyrically and sonically. It's not unique enough to differentiate itself from the rest of the other typical pop albums that's been released in the last... forever (last 5-10 years, tbh). To a fan of Maisy Kay, it might be easy to distinguish her voice from others. And as for me wanting to check out the rest of her discography, I'm hoping to start doing so... but it's not exactly on the top of my list.
