the take
Never really liked The Kid LAROI at all. Never cared for his music either. Hell, I still don't really care even after I enjoyed "BACK WHEN YOU WERE MINE". That said, "BEFORE I FORGET" is actually a decent project from him. I'm kind of intrigued to see LAROI use the alternative R&B sounds that are prevalent today. The production on here is actually pretty damn solid on here as a whole, which is a major plus for me going into this album. When it comes to The Kid LAROI's contributions, however... it's not the best I've heard on said production, but it's not at all terrible. It's a bit inconsistent overall, but LAROI proves at times that his vocals can compliment his alternative R&B direction he's going for. Aside from "BACK WHEN YOU WERE MINE", others that highlight that for me include "RATHER BE" and "HER INTERLUDE", as well as "MAYBE I'M WRONG". It's still kind of telling that the rest of the album has material that teeters between "average" and "good" to where it kind of evens out enough but still ended up on the "good" side of things overall. "BEFORE I FORGET" as an album I would not go actively look for on my own or anything like that, but it's still good enough to see firsthand that The Kid LAROI can put out some decent material.
