the take
I’m not sure what I was expecting, given that Drake released three albums in one day. It definitely seems like quantity over quality, and to be fair, it sounds like he’s pushing out content so that he can get out of his music contract with UMG. Every song has lyrics that are largely about the same thing. The instrumentation is kind of hit or miss from song to song, with some making use of some decent beats while others just use the same weird percussion and blips of bass throughout the whole song. I figured that since his songs were all over the Billboard Hot 100 chart right now, I’d give his new albums a try, but I kind of feel like I’ve just wasted an hour of my time listening to the same song over and over again. I straight up got uncomfortable listening to a few of these just because of how much unnecessary dirtiness there was.
