Strictly Only Brothers

SOB X RBE

the take

Seeing as though this is their most recent release as of May 2026, I've always had the belief that this would be a boring project, mainly because I went back to this one the least in the years since this dropped. In hindsight... this is not as bad as I remembered. "Strictly Only Brothers" finds the trio sonically returning to their roots of sorts reminiscent of their self-titled project era with a hint of their "GANGIN" era included. The material on here is repetitious per usual, but also pretty standard considering you know what you're gonna get from SOB X RBE. There aren't many standouts on here, but this is still a consistently fun listen, despite the production is less energetic and more on the hood side of things. Lyrically speaking, though, it may be a bit hit or miss, such as the case of "Mosh Pit". The correlation between a member of the opposite sexes' body and an actual mosh pit is crazy to compare the two with, and that's just what I've noticed directly. Maybe at this point, I'm starting to think the group has nothing new to say/rap about, seeing as though they've essentially run out of ideas. Even still, I enjoyed "Mosh Pit", as well as "Pass the Mic", "Still Won't", and the title track. What saved this for me was the always knocking tracks "Make Her Dance" (I know, it's ironic I have this as one of my favorites after slightly criticizing "Mosh Pit"), "Fuck What U Heard", and probably their best song they've released, "Legend". "Strictly Only Brothers" isn't exactly a project that's too grand of a finale, but it still has its moments to the point where one (such as myself) can hope SOB X RBE get back in the studio and drop "GANGIN III" or some shit.
