Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea

PJ Harvey

the take

A restless, romantic rush of a record, balancing grit and beauty with startling precision. The concept is loose but effective: a love letter to urban life that captures both its intoxication and its alienation, often within the same breath. PJ is sharp and immediate. She trades some of her earlier abstraction for clarity, writing in vivid, almost diaristic fragments. There’s a sense of movement in every line, as if the songs themselves are walking streets at night. It’s one of her most accessible and cohesive works. The band leans into a warm, guitar-driven sound while still retaining an undercurrent of tension. The interplay is tight and purposeful, never flashy, always in service of mood. It feels alive, like a fleeting experience you can’t quite hold onto. Not quite perfect, but damn close. Fav Track Horses In My Dreams
