the take
This album made me smile!!! It was composed in 1976 by Mort Garson in collaboration with Lynn and Joel Rapp, βfern correspondentsβ (love), to help plants grow. The vinyl was included with a houseplant purchase from Mother Earth, formerly on Melrose Ave. in LA. Someone posted a recording of the vinyl in the 2010s, and archivists found the original record and Sacred Bones Records reissued it in 2019. The album is wonderfully whimsical and playful. It feels like a breath of fresh air. The synths are nostalgic reminders of my outdoor adventures when I was little. My dog and my cat fell asleep in their sunny spots while I listened. And our houseplants seemed to perk up ever so slightly, too :)
