ACEEDO 10K the EP

Cheecho

the take

It may have taken me a bit, but I actually enjoy listening to Cheecho as a rapper now almost as much as I enjoy his production. Cheecho kind of dabbled with rapping a bit before finally releasing his own EP over his own beats. Honestly, it's not that bad. Cheecho's beats at the time of this EP's release haven't evolved too much from his "Cheecho ona Beat" tape or his primary placement on Goonew and Lil Dude's "Homicide Boyz" tape, but they still exhibit a kind of confident mentality that makes the listener motivated to get things done. Goonew and Schlish are the only two features on here, but both actually did a good job with their placements. (Goonew had the best feature out of the two.) Cheecho himself sounds like what you'd expect a rapper to sound like from the DMV at the time, but still somehow makes each track enjoyable with his mic presence. "100" is the favorite on here for me, but "10k (Intro)" and "Lock In" are also contenders among my top favorites on this EP. I guess the slight issue I have is how Cheecho kind of sounds like Goonew before Goonew adopted his eventual signature whisper flow (think of Goonew's style on either "Certified Goon" or "Beware of Goon"). That doesn't really impact how I feel about this project, though, as "ACEEDO 10K the EP" is still pretty damn solid. Hate that I ignored this for the longest, though.
