the take
Admittedly, it's kind of hard keeping up with G Perico's music because he drops more often than I'd like him to. Even still, "HARD RESET" is a solid project to start the year for him. Like most people, a new year means a new approach to life. G Perico is determined to make 2026 his best year for his career, and his raps definitely exemplify that. His flow hasn't changed much in a few years, but Perico still knows how to make a song enjoyable regardless. After a decent start with "Turn Up", the album finds its footing with the three tracks following right after. "Gangster Movie" is perfectly synonymous with modern West Coast hip-hop in terms of said song's production. "Questions" and "Options" are also enjoyable tracks to me, then the album kind of falls off from here, as the second half isn't as memorable as the first. However, the second half's saving grace might be the banger "Bacc End", the best track on the entire project. The soulful sample used in this song is what drew me into it from the jump, then I was immediately hooked soon as the beat dropped. "HARD RESET" is your standard G Perico project. It's not really anything mindblowing, but it still has its highlights that make me come back to this quite often.
