hummingbird: no rain, no flowers (deluxe)

“Because of my curiosity, I only know of Carly Pearce due to me listening to her lead single for this album. (I think I listened to "hummingbird", but it's been quite a bit since that day.) While I wasn't really anticipating Carly's then-upcoming album, I felt the song was a good introduction to her new era. That said, I wasn't really interested in Carly Pearce's album "hummingbird" until it was brought to my attention that a deluxe was released earlier this year. I gave it a spin and I actually enjoyed this more than I anticipated. The album contains tracks that slightly lean toward the 90's country-pop sound that country-purists despise with a fashion, but I actually think they're not bad at all. She leans into this sound and executes each song pretty well (with varying results, but still enjoyable). "oklahoma", "things I don't chase", "we don't fight anymore" with Chris Stapleton, and the bonus deluxe track "heart first" are among those that I came back to more often, as it helps me understand Carly's POV better than the rest. It's easy to tell that she provided the fun country vibe on here with no difficulty. I may not be a country music expert like those purists, but if it sounds good to me, I'll blast it loud and proud (in my earphones, not in my car... yet).”
