Wishbone Deluxe
“conan gray is so good at referencing his other songs in his songs. so much cross referencing could be done with the deluxe songs and the standard songs, and i found several connections from other albums as well.”

“best album i’ve ever heard. my first album i’ve gotten on cd and still own. if i could, i’d give it a 100/10. heard it for the first time in 2023, what i’d give to listen to it for the first time again… the sound - perfect. the vocals - impressive. the lyrics - heartbreaking. i can’t even express how much gratitude i have for this album and conan gray himself. every sad day, i’ve spent with this piece of work. is this dedication? hell yes. cried on these songs soooo many times, yet let’s go through them one by one. movies - one of my all time favorites. when i first heard it, i immediately burst in tears. it’s just so real. people watching - the most relatable song ever. i’m religious towards this song. disaster - i don’t get the hate, it’s amazing?? the lyrics are also heartbreaking and real. best friend - kinda random? the only happy song on this album. the sound is great, yet the lyrics don’t hit as hard as the ones on other songs. astronomy - oh. my. love, love, love!! again, it’s amazing. yours - conan gray, the man that you are… one of my all time favorites again. the vocals are so beautiful oh my god. and the bridge might be one of the best ones i’ve ever heard. jigsaw - i have a DEEP history with this song, every word feels written about me and my life. people pleasing anthem. family line - as a person with family issues, i feel deeply connected with this song, especially the second verse and bridge. summer child - feels boring, yet i love the words “aren’t you way too busy taking care of everybody to take care of yourself?” footnote - LOVE THIS ONE. memories - overplayed, yet still a bop! the exit - don’t speak to me, i can’t believe i’ve heard this live. it’s just so so so beautiful and tragic and yes! what makes me really surprised, is the fact that conan has allegedly written this entire album without ever being in a relationship. if that’s true, it’s crazy.”

Found Heaven
“Found Heaven is the first album I think of when I imagine an “80s pop album,” and that’s mighty impressive considering how it wasn’t even made in the 80s. Not only does it achieve this feat, but it is still as lyrically intimate and unique as the first two Conan albums plastered on a mix of eclectic pop sounds and beats. Despite FH’s poetic narrative just like its predecessors, it failed to chart well and was deemed a “failure” by his record label—and most likely Conan himself. Even then, it is ultimately his most personal album to date: ranging from religious trauma to the almost parasitic relationship between Conan and his father. The album’s title track starts off with an almost angelic-like chorus chanting about sin and love, then Conan speaks to someone in the second person, presumably his younger self. He tells himself not to listen to the lies spawned by those around him growing up in a religious town and that he can “find heaven” through love. One of the singles, Alley Rose, details a former relationship; however, it’s not about a love turned sour, but rather the pleasures that came from the relationship and that it’s all he needs. By the end of the song, he’s practically begging the recipient to return to him, that’s how good it was. The last song, Winner, begins with the narrator leaving at 14 due to the neglect shown by someone. Then, the narrator tells them that they’re the winner, for they hurt him more than anyone else ever could (most presumably Conan to his father.) All of this ultimately leads to a deeply emotional and tragic album that is part breakdown, part love letter formed from various 70s-90s references seen in songs like “Alley Rose, Never Ending Song, and Fainted Love.” I once saw someone say that the reason they believed that Found Heaven failed numbers wise was because of the removal of the singles Telepath and Overdrive from Superache, and I agree. Found Heaven is Conan’s deep love letter to the 80s, and looking back, it deserved better.”

“i cannot do this album a disservice by giving it anything less than a perfect score. one of the best albums i’ve ever listened to. conan’s raw lyrics encapsulate emotions like no other, and his vocals are nothing short of impressive, with dreamy instrumentals with more layers than ogres and onions. faves are eleven eleven, care and actor, with honourable mentions to class clown and sunset tower. the most amazing introduction to conan I could’ve asked for. listening to this album while single on valentines day is an experience to say the least.”
