He dabbled in learning a few musical instruments, but when he met fellow Southern Florida artist Wifisfuneral, Guerra shifted more toward music production. DJ Scheme was assisting Wifisfuneral with his tracks as early as 2014, and from there he began working with other rappers in the small but connected Florida scene. Over the next several years, Scheme worked on tracks with Kid Trunks, Ski Mask the Slump God, Craig Xen, and scored some massive hits in the production work he did for close friend XXXTentacion. He released his first solo project in 2019, the three-song Preseason EP, which featured Danny Towers, Lil Yachty, and Ski Mask the Slump God. The next year a proper studio album arrived in the form of guest star-heavy Family. The 17-track album featured big-name collaborators on almost every song, including standout artists like Cordae, Ty Dolla $ign, Skrillex, and many, many others.
