Everybody Saw You (Digitally Remastered)
“As soon as I heard "Casanova (Your Playing Days Are Over)", I knew instantly I was hooked. "Everybody Saw You" may have been Ruby Andrews' debut album, but you probably couldn't tell if your heard how focused she was on here. Ruby herself makes her presence known immediately with her strong and raw vocals. Include the lyrics and songwriting that for the most part deal with heartbreak (as well as the positive aspects of love at times) and you have a pretty damn convincing album that makes you feel like you are exactly in her shoes. Throughout the project, Ruby never comes off as doing too much; instead, she does what she has to do at the right time. It helps make the smooth soulful production both stand on its own two feet, as well as assist Ruby in making her thoughts and feelings more legitimate over song. "Everybody Saw You" is consistent as a whole, aside from "Casanova (Your Playing Days Are Over)", which is a clear-cut favorite of mine. Some of my other favorites that caught my attention immediately are "You Can Run, But You Can't Hide" and "I Guess That Don't Make Me a Loser". From a hip-hop head perspective, I'm surprised I haven't came across a song that samples anything from this. Ruby Andrews definitely made a strong impression with her debut. "Everybody Saw You" is one album I highly recommend if you're either into oldies already or if you're just getting into the subgenre.”
