How do you make a deadly serious topic playful? On our new album No Help Coming we approached the climate crisis through the hours of learnings from our previous JUNO-nominated album Trench Songs. That is, we made an album about resolve. It’s upbeat because there’s a lot of resolve to be found in joy. And while humans have a lot of bad things going for us, we can be pretty great at the joy part. We are a Vancouver-based acoustic folk-roots group headed by songwriters Adrian Glynn and Brendan McLeod, and joined by banjo player Chris Suen (Viper Central) and violinist Carly Frey (The Coal Porters). No Help Coming, is about the climate emergency, a different type of crisis from our previous album, Trench Songs, which brought WW1 poems written by young soldiers, into a musical force that earned a JUNO nomination, numerous CFMA and WCMA nominations. We've toured extensively through Europe, Canada, and the UK. We’ve entertained crowds at most major Canadian folk festivals, performed a slot at the renowned UK Glastonbury festival, and toured opening for Buffy Sainte-Marie. In 2020, we also unveiled Ridge, a WW1-centered theatre show, which was named a Globe & Mail “Top Arts Pick of the Year”.
