Originally appearing under the name Jonatha & Jennifer, they performed regularly throughout the Boston area until graduation, at which time Brooke joined a dance company and Kimball joined a publishing firm. The occasional gig followed, however; in 1989, they finally recorded a demo, dubbed Over Oceans, and were quickly signed by the Green Linnet label. Changing their name to the Story, their debut LP Grace in Gravity appeared in 1991; Elektra then snapped up the duo, reissuing the album a year later.
