Short n' Sweet (Deluxe)
“I always had a feeling a deluxe for my favorite 2024 pop album would drop—but never did I expect (as a single man) to get a “gift” from my future wife on Valentine’s Day 2025. Thank you, Sabrina Carpenter 😭 The bonus tracks are strong overall. “15 Minutes” took a second to click, but I get slight “Fast Times” vibes, which I like. The remix of “Please Please Please” featuring Dolly Parton didn’t fully land for me, but I respect the country direction—it fits her well, even if I still prefer the original. “Couldn’t Make It Any Harder” is easily the standout. The stripped-down production and lyrics hit hard—it’s one of those songs that just connects instantly. “Busy Woman” is one I previously brushed off, but revisiting it now, I get it. It feels like a retro-leaning cousin to “Espresso,” and it’s grown on me a lot. “Bad Reviews” is just okay musically, but the message really carries it. Ironically, it works better as a country-inspired track than the Dolly remix. It hits emotionally in a way I didn’t expect. These songs don’t drastically elevate an already great album, but they’re definitely a welcome addition.”

Man’s Best Friend
“When "Manchild" was released as the first single for this album, a part of me already felt how underwhelming "Man's Best Friend" by Sabrina Carpenter would be for me. The lead single didn't really click for me like "Espresso" did, which led me to not anticipate this as much. Fast forward to about two weeks after initial release and I finally managed to give this one a chance, to hopefully be proven wrong. And honestly? It's not terrible, but my intuition was still correct by a slightly wide margin, though. It's kind of hard to not look at this as a side B to "Short n' Sweet", given that "Man's Best Friend" was released almost a year to the day. But still, it feels like Sabrina stuck to the ideology that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". And honestly, that logic has yielded some mixed results overall, but still can work if executed properly. This isn't one of those properly executed times, though. Unlike many others, I truly couldn't care less about how horny she comes off as in her music. It makes her stand out from the rest easily, plus it makes her sound more confident about herself, which is a plus. The problem with that is by this time around, the clever innuendos were few and far between. Either they came off more direct than before or something like that because I was completely indifferent toward said lyrics. That's a minor issue, so maybe the actual music on here can make up for that, right? Eh... the production on here as a whole is underwhelming as well. Like I said earlier, "Manchild" didn't captivate enough interest for me, and the rest of the album is more of the same. Save for "House Tour" and "Tears", there really aren't any interesting sounds on here to keep me consistently interested. I mean, sure, the outcomes of songs like "When Did You Get Hot?" and "Don't Worry I'll Make You Worry" are fine, but are among the few that had potential to be better. Maybe my expectations were high even before the thought of "Man's Best Friend" even existed.”

Man’s Best Friend (Bonus Track Version)
“one of her BEST works in my opinion, and an UNDERRATED follow up to her smash album SNS. This one deserved a Grammy, and was ROBBED. Manchild was the hit song of the 2025 year, could not get away from the song because it was THAT GOOD. Truly an album overlooked by the sister album of SNS, similar to evermore being overlooked because of folklore. ANXIOUSLY waiting for the man’s best friend tour announcement, because the small amount of MBF songs played on the short n sweet and short n sweeter festival/second leg run wasn’t enough. Excited for what’s to come with her SABCHELLA set. Also, it is a CRIME that such a funny way wasn’t an original on the album and was added later on, but nonetheless happy it is on streaming now.”

Short n' Sweet (Deluxe)
“Great addition to SNS standard version. Would’ve loved a clever deluxe title similar to eics fwd, but the songs are great. My one complaint is where tf is Needless To Say? Thankfully I own the vinyl with this song, but not having that song available on streaming is a crime. Favorite deluxe track has to be 15 Minutes or Couldn’t Make It Any Harder,”

“Even though this isn’t really her sophomore album, it has a lot of “You have your whole life to make your first album, you have one year to make your second” going on”

Man’s Best Friend
“Not a complete departure from short and sweet. Instead this album builds off of the foundation and sounds she established. I enjoy the country twang in songs like man child, but I think this is where her flirtation with country should end. I think her other tracks that dig into other sounds like post-disco, with House Tour, and R&B influence, with When Did You Get Hot?, are stronger and fit Sabrina’s fun flirty vibe. Overall a solid record.”
